The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security in the UAE has stated that those interested in obtaining a remote work residency visa do not need to be physically present in the country during the application process, local media reported.
The new move offers more flexibility to individuals who want to work remotely in the UAE without a sponsor. They can now complete the application process from wherever they are, without having to be physically present in the UAE.
The virtual work residency visa is valid for a period of one year and can be renewed based on the terms and conditions of the visa.
The visa application can be made through the website or the smart application (UAEICP), but applicants must enter the UAE within 60 days of receiving their entry permit.
Remote work visa in the UAE
According to the report, which cites the ICP, the applicant is required to enter the country within 60 days of the issuance date in order to complete the procedures for obtaining a residence visa. If the applicant fails to enter the country within this timeframe, the permit will become invalid.
Documents required for remote visa
- Passport with 6-month validity
- A recent photograph
- Health insurance
The entry permit will be sent to the applicant’s registered email.
As part of the immigration or visa application process, the individual must provide evidence of their employment through a contract that is valid for a full year from their employer. They must also earn a minimum monthly salary of $3,500 or an equivalent amount in another currency.
In addition to the proof of employment and minimum salary requirement, the report states that the applicant must also provide their salary slip from the previous month and bank statements for the last three months.
Virtual visa cost
The cost for virtual work visa is Dhs350 per person.
Should a candidate fail to fulfill the criteria, the application will be rejected via electronic means 30 days after it has been returned to the candidate, owing to missing information or documents.
Additionally, if the application is returned three times for the same reason, it will automatically be declined. If the request is rejected by the ICP, the fee and financial guarantees will be refundable.
