Choithrams, a well-known supermarket chain in the UAE, has successfully raised Dhs500,000 through its annual “Double Blessings” Ramadan initiative.

The funds were directed towards “Gaza In Our Hearts,” a Ramadan fundraising campaign led by Dubai Cares, a part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

Gaza In Our Hearts campaign

The campaign aimed to support the people of Gaza by providing them with essential items such as hot meals, food baskets, and waterproof, fire-resistant tents, in collaboration with Anera, Dubai Cares’ implementing partner in Gaza.

As part of Choithrams’ 50th-anniversary celebrations, the “Double Blessings” initiative was active from March 1 to April 10. Customers were invited to contribute by purchasing ready-to-eat meals for Dhs10 at any Choithrams retail outlet, online store, or popular delivery apps. Over the course of 30 days, 10,000 meals were donated to the UAE Food Bank.

The proceeds from the sale of these meals were channelled to Dubai Cares for the “Gaza In Our Hearts” campaign.

Choithrams further amplified the impact of the contributions by increasing the donation value by 50 times, resulting in a total contribution of Dhs500,000 to the organization.
