2.1 million riders used public transport in Dubai during New Year’s Eve

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said that 2,166,821 riders used Dubai public transport shared mobility means such as buses, metro, tram and taxis during New Year’s Eve 2023.

The figure released by Dubai RTA reflects a 33% rise from 2022 numbers, which was 1,632,552 riders.

Dubai Public Transport Breakdown

  • Metro: 958,161 riders
  • Tram: 49,855
  • Public buses: 395,930
  • Marine transport means: 77,844 riders
  • E-Hailer: 125,651
  • Taxi: 558,079 riders
  • Shared mobility means: 1,301 riders

RTA mapped out a comprehensive plan for smooth public transport movement on New Year Eve 2023 in cooperation with Executive Committee for Securing International and Local Events in Dubai.

Dubai metro service continued around the clock. Over 200 buses were deployed to transport the residents from celebration locations to the designated vehicle parking areas.
