According to Google’s year in Search 2022, FIFA World Cup was one of the top trending searches in the UAE. Other top queries include Wordle, Expo 2022, Ministry of Community Development. The FIFA World Cup 2022 was held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
Soon after Argentina defeated France in their World Cup final, the CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, Sundar Pichai, took to twitter to reveal that search traffic hit a new high after the final match.
Pichai said that Google search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the final of FIFA World Cup won by Lionel Messi-led Argentina. He said that it was like the entire world was searching about one thing – FIFA World Cup.
