UAE Ramadan 2024: Zakat Al Fitr amount announced

The UAE Fatwa Council established that the standardized amount of Zakat Al Fitr (charitable donation given during Eid Al Fitr) is Dhs25.

Zakat Al Fitr, also known as Sadaqat Al Fitr or Fitrah, is a charitable donation given by Muslims at the end of the month of Ramadan, before the Eid Al Fitr prayer. It is a form of obligatory charity, which is mandatory upon every Muslim, who possesses the minimum amount of wealth (Nisab) in excess of his or her basic needs.

For individuals who are unable to fast due to advanced age or illness, the Fidyah (monetary or food offering given to the needy) is set at Dhs15 per day.

The UAE council has set the Kaffarah, which refers to the compensation for breaking the fast intentionally or violating the rules of Ramadan fasting, at Dhs900 per day.
