A new smart surveillance vehicle that uses artificial intelligence to detect visa and residency violations was unveiled by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) at GITEX Global 2025.
Vehicle to launch in 2026
The electric vehicle, called the Smart Violators Car, is set to begin operations in early 2026. It is designed to support inspection teams in identifying people who overstay their visas or break residency rules.
The car is fully equipped with six smart cameras, connected to ICP’s database. It can recognise faces and match iris scans to official records — identifying up to 50 people within seconds, even from distances of up to 10 kilometres.
The vehicle can spot violations on the spot and allows individuals to pay fines immediately if caught. It also stores facial data for only 24 hours and can collect fingerprints of residents aged 15 and above.
According to the ICP, this smart car will help reduce the need for traditional inspections and speed up responses during emergency situations. It uses real-time monitoring and data analysis to support quick decisions in the field.
A demonstration at GITEX showed how the vehicle works — including live tracking, face recognition, and automated checks. ICP officials say the project is part of efforts to adopt smarter, more sustainable methods for managing visa and residency compliance.
