Private sector employees in the UAE have been granted an additional day off in celebration of the UAE National Day, resulting in a welcomed three-day weekend for workers.
Initially, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation had designated only December 2 and 3 as paid holidays for this national occasion. However, in a recent announcement, the ministry expanded the holiday period to include December 4 (Monday), creating an extended weekend for private sector employees.

This adjustment aligns with the holiday schedule for government workers, who will also enjoy a break from December 2 to 4. Preceding the holiday, on Friday, December 1, government employees will engage in remote work, a customary practice as Fridays typically constitute a half-day for most in the public sector due to a 4.5-day work week.
