The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that from Monday, 29th Ramadan (April 8 2024) to 3rd Shawwal (or what is corresponding to it in Gregorian calendar) will be a paid holiday for all employees in the private sector across the UAE on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.

Earlier, the UAE Cabinet announced that the Eid Al Fitr holiday for the federal government sector will start on Monday, April 8, 2024, for a period of one week.

Regular working hours would then resume on Monday, April 24.

Engineer Mohammed Shawkat Odeh, Director of the International Astronomical Centre (IAC) in UAE, explained that in countries where Ramadan started on Monday, April 8, 2024, the crescent moon won’t be visible due to its setting before sunset and the conjunction occurring after sunset. Consequently, these nations will observe Ramadan for a full thirty days, culminating in Eid Al Fitr on Wednesday, April 10.
