Shoppers at Carrefour stores across the UAE will begin seeing more personalised offers while browsing in-store, thanks to a new partnership aimed at enhancing the retail experience using artificial intelligence.
AI to tailor promotions
Majid Al Futtaim, the exclusive operator of Carrefour in the UAE, has teamed up with Advertima, a Swiss AI company, to introduce smart technology that delivers targeted promotions to customers inside hypermarkets. Using advanced 3D sensors and audience data, digital screens will show tailored messages based on real-time shopper profiles such as families, young professionals, or bargain hunters.
Online and in-store connected
The new system links Carrefour’s online data with in-store activity. For example, a customer browsing baby products on the Carrefour app or website might later see a related promotion on a digital screen during their store visit. This integration allows brands to offer consistent messaging across both online and physical platforms.
Wider rollout planned
The technology has already been rolled out in Carrefour hypermarkets, with plans to expand to more UAE supermarkets in the coming months.
Arun Chandra Mohan, Chief Digital Officer at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: “We are merging real-time in-store intelligence with online audience data, unlocking smarter, more precise ways for our brand partners to connect with customers.”
The goal, according to the company, is to create a more relevant and efficient shopping experience by showing customers offers and products that match their needs.
