The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has issued its inspection report on Indian schools in Dubai.

KHDA assesses schools within the city and categorizes them based on their performance as Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable or Weak.

According to KHDA’s assessment, GEMS Modern Academy was the only school to receive the Outstanding rating, which it has maintained for the past 10 years.

Despite GEMS Modern Academy being the only Indian curriculum school to receive an Outstanding rating, the KHDA acknowledged that there has been an improvement in the overall standard of education among the Indian schools in Dubai.

Out of the 32 Indian curriculum schools in Dubai, one was rated as Outstanding, 10 were rated as Very Good, 10 were rated as Good, and 11 were rated as Acceptable. It is worth noting that there are no Indian curriculum schools in Dubai that were classified as Weak.

In a statement on its website the KHDA said: “The quality of education provided by schools has continued to improve since the last full inspection cycle. In fact, the proportion of students attending Very Good schools has increased to 42%, up from 37% in 2019-20. Six schools educating more than 6,000 students also improved their overall inspection rating.

“More than three quarters (78%) of schools have wellbeing provision rated High or Very High. Around 85% of students of determination now enrolled in schools which provide them a good or better quality of education.”

According to KHDA, there are a total of 85,588 students enrolled in the 32 Indian curriculum schools in the city. Among these students, 43,517 are boys and 42,031 are girls.

Commenting on the results, Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of KHDA said: “The improvement shown in this year’s inspection results are testament to the commitment of teachers and school leaders at Indian and Pakistani curriculum schools in Dubai. That more than three-quarters of schools were found to have high wellbeing provision speaks to the importance that schools and parents place on giving students a well-rounded education that prepares them for a healthy and prosperous future. We appreciate the support of parents and the wider community in their contribution to world-class education in Dubai.”
