The UAE’s event organizer, M Premiere, renowned for its 15-year track record of delivering spectacular events, is set to usher in a season of unmatched opulence and cultural grandeur, with four prestigious events slated to commence on November 1, 2023.
Dubai Opera Season 2023
Enthusiasts of international music sensations, opera, ballet, and the enduring artistic legacy dating back to the illustrious 18th century are in for a magnificent treat.
Alexey Arkhipovsky’s Concert
The season kicks off with a groundbreaking concert featuring the world-sensation Alexey Arkhipovsky, known as “the Paganini of the balalaika.”
In a historic first for the Middle East, Arkhipovsky will grace the stage at Dubai Opera on November 1, 2023.
Alexey Arkhipovsky has earned comparisons to the legendary 18th-century Italian violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini and American rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, thanks to his eclectic and innovative technique, which has captivated audiences and broadened the possibilities of the balalaika.
Officially recognized as “The best balalaika soloist in the world” by the Guinness Book of Records in Russia in 2011, he is set to deliver a captivating performance featuring folk, classical, and contemporary hits in his first-ever balalaika concert in the region.
Dubai Opera Ball
Marking the zenith of the season, the Dubai Opera Ball, presented jointly by M Premiere and Mundus Gala in collaboration with the Dresden Opera Ball, will take place on November 18 at Dubai Opera.
This exclusive event promises not only a unique blend of grand musical performances but also a social extravaganza, fusing European sophistication with modern musical and artistic showcases from the Arab world, reflecting the luxurious style synonymous with M Premiere events.
The star-studded lineup for the evening includes the brilliant soprano Aida Garifullina, known for her performances at prestigious opera houses worldwide, Italian tenor Riccardo Massi, the phenomenal Italian soprano Anastasia Bartoli, Russian mezzo-soprano Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, the Janoska Ensemble from Austria, ballet star Denis Rodkin of the Bolshoi Theatre, and jazz maestro Igor Butman.
They will be accompanied by The Northern Sinfonia Orchestra, under the direction of Italian music director Fabio Mastrangelo.
A highlight of the evening will be the debutant couples from Dresden, gracing the stage in elegant gowns and tuxedos, captivating audiences with their enchanting dance exhibition—a tradition steeped in European high society.
Individual Performances and More
Following the Dubai Opera Ball, several star performers will stage individual performances. Soprano Aida Garifullina, described as “one of the most exciting opera divas of today and tomorrow” by maestro Plácido Domingo, will give her first solo concert in the UAE on November 19 at Dubai Opera.
Garifullina, at the peak of her internationally acclaimed career, will present classic arias from the world opera repertoire and well-known romances and crossover hits.
World-Renowned Ballet Superstars
On November 20, 2023, ballet superstar Denis Rodkin, Premier of the Bolshoi Theatre, and his friends from the world-renowned Bolshoi, Mikhailovsky, and Teatro alla Scala dance troupes will grace the Dubai Opera stage.
Rodkin, celebrated for his lead roles in iconic ballet productions, will be joined by world-renowned dancers, including Mikhail Lobukhin, Semen Chudin, Eleonora Sevenard, Evgeniya Obraztsova, Jacopo Tissi, and more, presenting well-known masterpieces like Adagio from the ballet Raymonda, Pas-de-deux from the ballet Don Quixote, Dying Swan, Carmen, and many more.
The Dubai Opera Ball has consistently been one of the most eagerly awaited events on the city’s social calendar, as demonstrated by its scintillating success in 2022.
