First day of Ramadan 2023 in UAE announced

Thursday, March 23 is the first day of Ramadan 2023 in the UAE,  Moonsighting Committee announced on Tuesday.

The crescent moon, which marks the start of the holy month of Ramadan, has not been sighted on Tuesday evening in the UAE. Therefore, Wednesday will be the last day of the month of Sha’aban, and the holy month will begin on Thursday.

The moon-sighting committee convened after the Maghrib prayer.

Ramadan 2023 starting date

According to reports from local media, the crescent moon that signifies the start of the holy month of Ramadan was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Therefore, it is expected that the month of Sha’ban will conclude on Wednesday, March 22, and the first day of Ramadan will be on Thursday, March 23.

Ramadan, the holy month observed in the Islamic calendar, is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which can be either 29 or 30 days long.

As a result, the start and end of the month vary each year and are not fixed to any particular dates.

The moon sighting committee of the Kingdom will convene again on Wednesday evening to confirm the sighting of the crescent moon.
