In a move to boost Emiratisation efforts, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has initiated the application of a new Cabinet decision. Over 12,000 companies with 20-49 employees, spanning 14 specific economic sectors, are now mandated to hire at least one UAE citizen in 2024 and another in 2025.
New Emiratisation targets in 2024
MoHRE has digitally notified the targeted companies, urging swift compliance with the new Emiratisation targets. The notification gives these businesses ample time to align with the decision and fulfill their employment quotas.
The affected companies operate in 14 vital economic sectors, including finance, education, healthcare, construction, and more. MoHRE emphasizes the urgency for these entities to register on the Nafis platform, benefitting from support programs and facilitating the integration of qualified Emirati professionals into their workforce.
Consequences for non-compliance
Companies failing to meet the specified Emiratisation targets face financial consequences. A sum of Dhs96,000 per unappointed UAE citizen in 2024 and Dhs108,000 for 2025 will be imposed, with collections commencing in January of the subsequent years. Companies are permitted to settle these contributions through installment plans, in coordination with MoHRE.
