A Dubai resident has won a studio apartment after entering a retail campaign with a purchase made before leaving the UAE for a holiday.

Ethel Metry, a Filipina who has lived in Dubai for nearly 20 years, is the eighth winner of a new studio apartment under the “Win Your Home in Dubai” campaign.

Winning purchase

Metry entered the draw after buying a gold ring from Jawhara as a gift for a family member. A sales associate told her about the campaign and encouraged her to upload her receipt.

She was in the Philippines when the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) contacted her about the win. She initially questioned whether the call was genuine because of a poor connection, before receiving an official confirmation email.

“I have seen so many stories about people winning amazing prizes in Dubai, but I never imagined I would be one of them. When I received the call, I wanted it to be true, but I was also worried it wasn’t. I even went on Instagram and looked at all the previous winners before it finally felt real.”

She later told her husband about the win.

“The first person I called was my husband, and I told him, ‘I won an apartment.’ His first response was, ‘Are you serious?’ We were both in disbelief. This is the first raffle I have ever entered and the first time I have ever won anything. It is unbelievable”.

Final draws

The “Win Your Home in Dubai” campaign is jointly led by DFRE, part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Dubai Chambers.

The campaign offers 12 residential units from Binghatti Developers. The remaining weekly draws will take place on August 16, 23 and 30 at Dubai Festival City Mall.

One studio apartment will be awarded in each weekly draw, while the final draw on August 30 will include a two-bedroom apartment as the grand prize.

How to enter

The campaign runs until August 30, 2026. Residents and visitors aged 18 and above can enter after spending Dhs500 at participating brands.

More than 1,000 brands across over 3,500 retail outlets in Dubai are taking part. Shoppers can scan the QR code on official campaign materials at participating locations and upload their receipt to validate their entry.
