A Kazakhstani tourist has won a studio apartment in Dubai after entering a citywide retail draw under the ongoing “Win Your Home in Dubai” initiative.

Winner announced

Shyngyskhan Rysbek, a 33-year-old photographer, became the second winner of the campaign. He was announced as the winner during a ceremony held at Dubai Festival City Mall, where he attended with his family after returning to Dubai for the prize handover.

The initiative is jointly organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Dubai Chambers. It offers shoppers the chance to win one of 12 residential units provided by Binghatti Developers across Dubai.

Family moment

Rysbek said he had entered the draw during the final day of his previous visit to Dubai in early June.

He said: “After registering for the campaign, we were on our way to the airport when I looked at my wife and noticed tears in her eyes. She looked at me and said she really didn’t want to leave, then asked: ‘will we come back?’. I smiled and replied, ‘Of course we will’. At that moment, neither of us could have imagined that about a week later we would already be flying back to Dubai – this time to receive the keys to our own apartment.”

He added: “Winning an apartment in Dubai means much more to me than simply owning a property. Above all, it is an incredible blessing for our family and a moment we will remember for the rest of our lives. This prize has brought us not only happiness, but also the feeling that truly amazing things can happen in life.”

Upcoming draws

The campaign will continue with weekly draws scheduled for July 5, 12, 19 and 26, and August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at Dubai Festival City Mall.

Each draw until the final date will award a studio apartment. The final draw on August 30 will offer a two-bedroom apartment.

How to enter

The “Win Your Home in Dubai” initiative runs until August 30. Residents and visitors aged 18 and above can enter by spending Dhs 500 at participating outlets across more than 3,500 retail stores in Dubai.

Shoppers must then scan a QR code at participating locations and upload their receipt to validate entry.
