Dubai airport shares travel tips ahead of busy summer season

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a busy summer travel period, with around 3 million passengers expected to pass through its terminals in the first half of July.

Peak travel period

Passenger traffic is expected to rise from July 2 as residents begin their summer holidays. The busiest day is forecast for July 12, when more than 225,000 travellers are expected to use the airport.

During the peak period, daily traffic is expected to regularly exceed 200,000 passengers. About half of all travellers are expected to be transfer passengers, reflecting Dubai’s role as a major global transit hub.

I Heart DXB

At Terminal 3, Concourse B near Gate B28, DXB has launched an interactive installation called “I Heart DXB” for departing and transit passengers.

The display allows travellers to upload a selfie that becomes part of a growing digital mosaic inspired by the UAE flag. The installation also features a wall where passengers can leave handwritten messages about their travel experience and connection to Dubai.

Passengers can also access related offers and souvenirs at selected airport retail outlets.

Travel advice issued

Dubai Airports, together with its oneDXB partners, has activated its summer operations plan to manage the expected surge in passenger numbers.

Travellers are advised to arrive no earlier than three hours before departure and to use online check-in where possible.

Emirates passengers can also use home, city and self-service check-in options to reduce waiting time.

Other guidance includes using Smart Gates for eligible families, checking travel requirements in advance, and carrying power banks in hand luggage only.

Additional support is available for People of Determination, including dedicated routes, trained staff with Sunflower Lanyard assistance, and an Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2.

Passengers are also encouraged to use DXB Express Maps, a QR-based navigation tool that provides real-time airport directions and flight updates.
