A Dubai resident from Kenya has won a Jetour T2 Luxury Plus SUV after attending GameExpo, one of the main attractions of this year’s Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF).
Tony Afula, 38, was selected in a prize draw open to GameExpo ticket holders. The giveaway was sponsored by Elite Group Holding. GameExpo, part of DEF, was organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), under the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
Prize winner
Afula, a software engineer who has lived in Dubai for the past three years, is currently learning to drive and said the prize has encouraged him to complete his driving test sooner.
“It is a car that I wanted to have for a while as I have seen it many times before and I really like the exterior and interior features. It really is a dream come true.
“This car has given me more motivation to pass my driving test and push me further to complete it even earlier, as I really want to start driving this car since I am using public transport to travel and it will make my everyday life much easier.”
GameExpo visit
The event marked Afula’s first visit to GameExpo, which was held at Dubai World Trade Centre from June 5 to 7. The exhibition featured gaming, esports, anime, cosplay, retro arcades, family entertainment, food experiences and retail activities.
“I really enjoyed myself at GameExpo, especially as I have a big interest in technology and gaming. I never knew there were so many people who were interested in these sectors – there were thousands of people of all ages taking part in different activities. I enjoyed the Cosplay entertainment, it was fascinating to see the effort that people put into creating their costumes, which looked realistic to the real-life characters. I cannot wait to attend next year with my new Jetour car!”
