Paid public parking hours across Sharjah will be extended until midnight starting July 1, 2026, under a new decision by Sharjah City Municipality.
Coverage areas
The updated timing will apply to all paid parking spaces in Sharjah, Kalba, Khorfakkan and Al Dhaid. This includes yellow signboard zones, which will now operate in line with blue zones that already run until 12am.
Free parking rules
The municipality said parking will remain free on Fridays and official public holidays. However, fees will continue in designated zones that operate throughout the week, including holidays.
The change will cover about 124,000 paid parking spaces across the emirate. Parking fees will apply from 8am to midnight, while some smart parking zones, especially in tourist areas, may follow different systems.
Hamed Al Qaed, Director of the Public Parking Department at Sharjah City Municipality, said the decision responds to rising demand for parking services and ongoing urban and tourism growth in the emirate.
He said the extended hours are expected to improve parking availability, reduce illegal parking and increase turnover in busy commercial areas.
Payment options
The municipality has urged motorists to follow the updated timings and use available payment channels, including SMS services and the Sharjah Digital app. It also encouraged residents to use seasonal parking subscriptions offered through its services.
