The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), has launched a new digital service to verify academic qualifications. The initiative aims to streamline hiring procedures in the UAE’s private sector.

Faster degree verification

The new system allows private sector employers to verify the academic credentials of job candidates — whether issued inside or outside the UAE — through MoHRE’s digital platforms or business service centres. The service currently applies to workers at skill levels 1 to 4, based on the National Qualifications Framework.

Eventually, it will be expanded to include degrees issued within the UAE.

Part of digital transformation

The project is part of the UAE’s broader digital transformation goals and is intended to support a more integrated and efficient employment ecosystem. MoHRE will incorporate the new verification process into work permit issuance, while MoHESR serves as the official academic verification body.

Khalil Al Khoori, Undersecretary of Labour Market and Emiratisation Operations at MoHRE, said, “The Academic Qualification Verification Project forms part of our ongoing efforts at the Ministry to enhance labour market efficiency and develop digital services for our customers, reinforcing the UAE’s pioneering vision to attract talent and maintain competitiveness and integrity in the employment ecosystem.”

Improving market alignment

Dr. Mohammad Al Mualla, Undersecretary of MoHESR, noted that the project improves the accuracy and speed of qualification checks, which can help businesses attract talent that fits their needs.

“This initiative marks a ground-breaking new step towards aligning the academic journey with labour market requirements, which is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research,” he said.

He added that the initiative supports the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy programme and will continue to evolve through cooperation with various stakeholders.

Unified, secure system

The system aims to reduce paperwork and improve the reliability of hiring practices by ensuring academic qualifications are verified directly and digitally. A one-time fee applies for the verification service.

Authorities say the move is expected to boost private sector efficiency, reduce risks of credential fraud, and strengthen collaboration between government and business sectors.
