Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic improvements at six school-zone locations across the emirate, benefiting more than 10 schools.
The works were carried out during the summer break to reduce disruption and make use of lower traffic volumes.
The improvements covered school zones in Wadi Al Safa 4, Al Barsha, Umm Al Sheif, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City and Al Sufouh.
A new road linking Al Qudra Road and Hessa Street through Dubai Motor City and Dubai Studio City has improved access to and from GEMS Metropole School – Motor City.
RTA also added parking spaces at Horizon International School in Umm Al Sheif, doubling its parking capacity.
Other works included upgrades to the entrances and exits of the service road near the Al Barsha South schools complex, as well as road improvements around The International School of Choueifat – Dubai in Al Sufouh.
RTA upgraded the road near GEMS Winchester School – Dubai in Wadi Al Safa 4 and introduced traffic-calming and safety measures around the schools.
The authority also urged parents and school-bus drivers to use designated pick-up and drop-off areas, avoid random stopping and parking, reduce speed and follow traffic signs and signals.
Drivers were also reminded not to use parking spaces reserved for People of Determination or emergency vehicles and to stop when school buses display warning signs or signals.
