A Dubai resident has won a studio apartment after making a purchase at Primark in Dubai Mall, becoming the 10th winner of the Win Your Home in Dubai campaign.
Tareq Al Tayar, a Libyan expat who has lived in Dubai since 2005, was selected after a recent shopping trip to Primark at Dubai Mall.
Al Tayar is married and has four children. He works as a Statistician at the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre and has previously won a prize in a raffle in 1998.
He received a call about the win three days after his shopping trip while he was at a bank completing paperwork. At first, he thought a friend might be playing a joke on him, before an official email confirmed the win.
“I am always positive and believe that I can win, so when I received the call, I was happy but also suspicious because I thought maybe one of my friends was playing a joke on me,” said Tareq.
“I was at the bank signing some papers and completing some procedures, so I didn’t really know how to react. When I received the email, I slowly started to believe that it was actually true.”
Win Your Home draw
The Win Your Home in Dubai initiative is jointly led by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Dubai Chambers.
The campaign is offering 12 residential units by Binghatti Developers across Dubai. The grand draw will take place on August 30 at Dubai Festival City Mall, with a studio apartment and a two-bedroom apartment set to be awarded to two winners.
“Dubai has given us so many opportunities, and there are always new experiences and chances to win. It is a great place to live, and I have always believed that good things can happen here,” he added. “I am very happy with this win and still thinking about what I will do with the apartment, but for now I just want to enjoy this moment with my family.”

The campaign runs until August 30, 2026. Residents and visitors aged 18 and above can enter by spending AED 500 at any of the more than 1,000 participating brands across over 3,500 retail outlets in Dubai.
