Khorfakkan, a growing hotspot for tourists and adventure enthusiasts in Sharjah, is set to receive an exciting new addition to its tourism offerings.

Al Jebel Adventure Park

Al Jebel Adventures, designed as a family-friendly destination, will feature a range of activities including ziplines, swings, and an extensive network of hiking and biking trails.

Shurooq, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, has committed to completing the project by the end of this year, aiming to elevate Khorfakkan’s appeal even further.

While speaking to Dubai Newsweek on the sidelines of the Sharjah Ramadan Majlis 2025 at Mleiha, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, said: “We are building something that will cater to families, with thrilling activities and trails that appeal to adventurers of all ages.

“Khorfakkan is already a popular destination for hiking and scuba diving, and the Jebel Adventure Park will make it even more attractive, providing visitors with a wide variety of outdoor experiences.”

Sharjah’s hospitality sector

While the adventure park is one of the most anticipated developments, Al Qaseer also highlighted Shurooq’s expanding footprint in the hospitality sector.

The authority currently operates five hotels, with three more expected to open by the end of this year and into the next.

“We have a vision for niche, high-quality hospitality projects. It’s not about the number of rooms, it’s about offering unique, memorable experiences. For example, we are constructing a 45-room hotel in Khorfakkan that will offer breathtaking mountain views, and another hotel is being built in conjunction with Sharjah Safari, the largest safari outside of Africa,” Al Qaseer explained.

Mleiha National Park

Shurooq is also heavily invested in preserving Sharjah’s natural and cultural heritage through projects like the Mleiha National Park.

Al Qaseer emphasized that sustainable development and conservation are core elements of the company’s growth strategy.

“Mleiha National Park is one of our key cultural projects,” Al Qaseer said. “We are adding more activities and preservation projects to ensure we protect the region’s natural beauty while enhancing its cultural significance for visitors.”

Real estate

In addition to these exciting projects in hospitality and tourism, Shurooq’s real estate division continues to expand. The company has already delivered over 1,200 homes and has plans for even more developments in the pipeline.

“We will soon announce two more significant projects in Sharjah. We are committed to delivering quality developments that contribute to Sharjah’s growth and offer a variety of living options for people.”

Al Qaseer said that Shurooq wants to contribute to Sharjah’s growth by delivering high-quality, sustainable projects that will benefit both residents and visitors alike.
