Meta Platforms, Inc. and EssilorLuxottica have officially launched the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the UAE. The new collection, unveiled during a private event at Gitano Beach Club , will be available to the public across Ray-Ban stores and partner opticians starting May 12.
Hands-free tech features
The Ray-Ban Meta glasses come with a range of built-in smart features. These include a 12 MP ultrawide camera for high-quality photos and 1080p videos, discreet open-ear speakers, and five microphones for seamless audio and voice command use. A major feature is Meta AI, which enables users to perform tasks, get information, and interact with content using the voice prompt “Hey Meta.”
Users can livestream directly to platforms like Instagram Live or Facebook Live for up to 30 minutes, switching between phone and glasses cameras in real time.
AI tools and updates
Ray-Ban Meta glasses support AI-powered functions such as local recommendations, translation, and object recognition. A live translation feature—supporting English, Spanish, French, and Italian—is expected to launch in the UAE later this spring. It can work offline when languages are pre-downloaded.
The glasses will receive regular software updates, making them smarter and more functional over time.
Custom styles and pricing
The collection is available in classic Wayfarer and Wayfarer Large styles, as well as the newer Ray-Ban Skyler frame. Customers can choose from a wide variety of lens options, including prescription, sun, polarized, clear, and Transitions.
The starting price is Dhs 1,330, and each pair includes a portable charging case.
Launch event highlights
The launch event was attended by public figures including Yusra Mardini, Joelle Mardinian, and Omar Farooq, among others. The celebration kicks off a month-long brand presence at Gitano Beach Club, running until June 5, with Ray-Ban branding and activations featured throughout the venue.
