The primary aim of this partnership is to develop ticket booking and fare payment solutions through the nol system, a crucial step aligned with the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025 and the Dubai Digital Strategy, both geared towards digital transformation in Dubai.

The nol card, a versatile smart card, has been instrumental in facilitating payment transactions across RTA’s public transport networks and parking zones. Its versatility extends to entry fees at various attractions and retail purchases. With over five million active users and more than 30 million cards sold since its inception in September 2009, the nol card has become an integral part of Dubai’s transportation ecosystem.

The ongoing project to upgrade the nol system incorporates digital payment technologies, aligning with international best practices. With an estimated cost of Dhs350 million, this project aims to introduce a digital payment system using central transportation tariff wallet technology, enhancing operational efficiency and security standards.

Since its launch alongside the Dubai Metro in 2009, the nol card has continually evolved to meet the growing needs of Dubai’s residents and visitors. Its expanded functionalities resonate with RTA’s digital strategy, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing the overall public transportation experience in Dubai.
