Emirates, the leading UAE airline, is lighting up the skies this Diwali season with a special celebration onboard flights to and from India. Emirates is known for embracing and celebrating various cultures, and Diwali is no exception. Travellers on Emirates flights to and from major Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Cochin, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, and Mumbai, are in for a special treat.

Passengers in Premium Economy and Economy Class will be served the beloved Indian sweet, “motichoor laddu,” alongside their hot meals. These plump, golden sweet balls are deep-fried to perfection and drenched in a flavourful blend of cardamom and saffron, making them a favorite across India.

First and Business Class passengers can indulge in a “Pista roll,” a delectable fudge made from ground cashew nuts, spices, pistachios, and edible silver leaf.

Diwali celebrations Emirates lounges

For those in the First Class Lounge in Dubai, a traditional “Thali set” meal will be on the menu, followed by a dessert of “Kulfi Falooda,” the classic Indian ice cream with saffron and pistachio. The lounge will also offer mouthwatering Diwali delights such as “dal kachori” and “vegetable samosas,” accompanied by the special “Phuljadi cocktail” featuring Woodford Reserve, chai mix, lemon, orange, and agave.

In the Business Class Lounge, travellers can enjoy “kachori,” “samosas,” “angoori rabdi,” and “rasgullas,” along with the signature “Diwali cocktail Rum ta jogi,” made with white rum, elderflower, lemon, and a pinch of chaat masala.

Cape Town and Johannesburg Emirates Lounges, with significant Indian diasporas, will offer an assortment of “ladoo,” “jalebi” – spiral-shaped sweets made with flour and yogurt, and “burfi,” a melt-in-the-mouth milk-based fudge.

Diwali Entertainment

In addition to the culinary delights, Emirates provides a vibrant entertainment experience for Diwali travellers. Passengers can choose from a vast library of classic Bollywood movies, with up to 260 Indian films, including new releases, iconic Bollywood classics, and regional Indian cinema. Notable titles include “Bholaa,” “Drishyam 2,” “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” and the much-anticipated “Kantara.”

The entertainment collection also features a special selection of Yash Raj Films, often referred to as Bollywood’s ‘father of romance.’ Passengers can enjoy Yash Raj music videos on Indian TV, along with over 30 albums and playlists of Indian music.

Emirates is dedicated to making this Diwali season a memorable and festive experience for its passengers, ensuring that the spirit of the festival reaches the skies.
