Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai reviewed the transformative initiatives of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) aimed at advancing urban mobility and infrastructure.

Here are 15 key points you should know.

1. Plan to add 22 projects across Dubai’s expanding road network, benefiting 6 million people.

2. Development of Umm Suqeim and Al Qudra Roads to cut travel time from 46 to 11 minutes, boosting capacity from 8,400 to 12,600 vehicles per hour.

3. Latifa bint Hamdan Street upgrade to accommodate 16,000 more vehicles per hour, reducing travel time by up to 20%.

4. Al Safa Street development from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Wasl Road intersections to cut travel time from 20 to 2 minutes, increasing capacity from 6,800 to 9,400 vehicles per hour.

5. Hamdan bin Mohammed also reviews Trackless Tram Project, AI and smart mobility initiatives.

6. Road network length reaches 18,990 lane-kilometres, a 117% increase from 2006.

7. Number of lanes across Dubai Creek increased from 16 in 2006 to 61 in 2024.

8. Bridges and tunnels grew from 129 to 1,070 between 2006 and 2024, marking a 729% increase.

9. Pedestrian bridges and tunnels jumped from 26 to 129, a 396% rise.

10. Cycling tracks expanded from 9 km to 557 km, up by 6,088%.

11. 2.2 million daily users of public transport; 3.5 million vehicles in Dubai during daytime hours.

12. 10% increase in vehicle registrations over the past two years, compared to 2–4% globally.

13. Study underway for trackless tram deployment at eight locations across Dubai.

14. Dedicated bus and taxi lanes improve bus arrival timing by 42% and reduce travel time by 41%.

15. 44 employees and students sponsored to pursue academic qualifications in AI, Big Data, IoT, Cybersecurity, Data Management & Analysis.
