AliExpress to sell electric cars online in UAE

AliExpress is set to begin selling electric vehicles (EVs) directly through its platform in the UAE, allowing consumers to order cars online for home delivery.

The service will launch during the company’s Summer Sale this June and marks a first for the e-commerce giant in the region.

UAE-only rollout

Initially, the EV purchase option will only be available to customers in the UAE, with plans to expand into other GCC countries later. The move supports the UAE Vision 2031 goals of promoting sustainability and enhancing the nation’s technological leadership.

EV market growth

Electric vehicle adoption is on the rise in the UAE, with over 70,000 EVs already in use. This number is projected to reach 100,000 by 2027, driven by incentives, infrastructure investment, and growing environmental awareness.

Brands and delivery

Through the platform’s Big Save Channel, users can choose from brands such as BYD, Geely, Jetour, and Toyota. Vehicles will be shipped from China by sea freight, offering a streamlined and accessible process for buyers.

“By offering more affordable EVs, AliExpress is broadening the appeal of electric mobility across diverse demographic groups, benefiting all income brackets and contributing positively to the UAE’s economy.”

AliExpress says this new model will simplify the buying process for customers and support the UAE’s transition toward cleaner transportation solutions.
