Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new 500-metre bridge under the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project, aiming to improve traffic flow in the Trade Centre area.

The bridge is designed to ease outbound traffic from Al Bada’ towards 2nd December Street, with connections to Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mustaqbal Street. It has a single lane and can handle up to 1,200 vehicles per hour, reducing journey times from eight minutes to two minutes for motorists travelling in this direction.

Intersection upgrades

As part of the project, the signalised intersection on 2nd December Street, which serves traffic towards Sheikh Rashid and Al Mustaqbal Streets, has been converted into a free-flow intersection to further enhance mobility and reduce congestion.

The World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project includes six bridges spanning a total of 5,000 metres to enable free-flow traffic in multiple directions. Three bridges have already been opened, including one linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street in February 2026, and two bridges opened in December 2025 serving traffic from 2nd December Street towards Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Majlis Street.

Two additional two-lane bridges are planned to connect Al Majlis Street and Sheikh Rashid Road with 2nd December Street and Al Mustaqbal Street, with a combined capacity of approximately 6,000 vehicles per hour. The project also converts the existing roundabout into a signalised at-grade intersection.
