With Eid Al Adha approaching, travel interest among UAE residents is surging, and new data from travel marketplace Wego highlights a growing trend toward affordable, visa-friendly destinations.

Based on real-time search activity, the platform has released a list of trending Eid holiday choices, showing a balance between short-haul cultural escapes and longer leisure getaways.

Short-haul travel favorites

Regional destinations with simple visa procedures continue to attract last-minute holidaymakers. Among them is Yerevan, Armenia, which has become a popular choice for budget-conscious travelers, with average airfares around USD 232 (Dhs 852). UAE citizens benefit from visa-free access, adding to the appeal.

Baku, Azerbaijan is also gaining ground due to its combination of modern cityscapes and historic sites. With 90 days of visa-free entry and an average airfare of USD 274.37 (Dhs 1,007), it’s seen as both affordable and accessible.

Tbilisi, Georgia offers a similar visa advantage, allowing UAE travelers to stay for up to a year without a visa. With a blend of mountain views and cultural heritage, it’s become a top pick for both short trips and extended holidays. Average fares are around USD 374.58 (Dhs 1,375).

Nature and culture destinations

For those looking to pair travel with natural beauty, Kathmandu, Nepal stands out. UAE citizens are eligible for visa-on-arrival, and the city’s tranquil atmosphere and heritage sites are accessible with an average airfare of USD 283.03 (Dhs 1,039).

Bali, Indonesia remains a classic escape for nature and beach lovers. Visa on arrival is available for UAE citizens, and flights average around USD 563.89 (Dhs 2,071), making it suitable for a longer, more immersive trip.

City breaks and long-haul escapes

Bangkok, Thailand continues to draw UAE travelers with its mix of food, nightlife, and culture. Visa-free for up to 90 days, and with average airfare at USD 449.08 (Dhs 1,649), it offers a lively and cost-effective option.

Phuket, Thailand caters to those seeking beach resorts and a slower pace. UAE nationals can enter visa-free for 30 days, with flights averaging USD 623.70 (Dhs 2,288).

For more urban adventures, London, United Kingdom remains a top long-haul choice. UAE passport holders can now enter using an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), and flights average USD 815.55 (Dhs 2,992).

Cities like Baku, Tbilisi, and Yerevan are rising in popularity as they offer the perfect blend of affordability, accessibility, and charm, making them ideal for both spontaneous getaways and meaningful escapes.”
