Italy becomes top European jewellery exporter to UAE

Italy has strengthened its position as a key jewellery exporter to the UAE, with national exports reaching €1.22 billion in 2024.

The country is now the third-largest global supplier and the top European exporter of jewellery to the Emirates.

Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show

At the 55th Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show, running from May 28 to June 1 at Expo Centre Sharjah, Italy will showcase 48 brands across a 708 sqm pavilion – the largest international presence at this year’s event. Organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in partnership with CNA and designed by Artex, the pavilion highlights jewellery from Italy’s most renowned production regions.

Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, said: “Italian jewellery is more than craftsmanship. It is a celebration of our lifestyle, our creativity, and our passion for beauty. Through each piece, we bring a touch of Italian elegance and cultural identity to the UAE, where appreciation for quality and design runs deep.”

Fanara added that the strong turnout at the event demonstrates the growing connection between Italy and the UAE.

Exports continue to rise

In February 2025, Italy recorded €238 million in jewellery exports to the UAE, up 24% from the same period last year. This accounts for a 5% share of the UAE’s total jewellery imports. Italian jewellery remains the country’s top export category to the UAE.

Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, said: “Italy’s jewellery exports to the UAE exceeded €1.22 billion in 2024, reinforcing our position as the leading European supplier… This growth confirms the UAE’s importance as a key economic partner and a gateway for wider regional expansion.”

Focus on sustainability

Italian jewellers are also adapting to rising sustainability standards, with increased transparency in supply chains and circular production models.

With UAE consumers becoming more conscious of ethical sourcing, many Italian brands are highlighting their commitment to responsible production alongside traditional craftsmanship.
