Ferrari has officially launched the 296 Speciale in the Middle East during an exclusive event in Dubai, just days after its global reveal in Maranello.
The unveiling marks the regional debut of the latest addition to Ferrari’s line of mid-rear-engined special series models.
Middle East debut
The 296 Speciale continues Ferrari’s tradition of performance-focused berlinettas, following in the footsteps of previous models such as the 458 Speciale and 488 Pista.
Designed for driving enthusiasts, the new model introduces several engineering upgrades aimed at enhancing on-road performance and handling precision.
“The launch of the Ferrari 296 Speciale marks a special occasion for the brand in the Middle East,” said Giorgio Turri, General Manager, Ferrari Middle East.
“True to its name, this model is nothing short of extraordinary, blending cutting-edge innovation with Ferrari’s unmistakable DNA. With its supreme agility and dynamic finesse, heightened responsiveness and unmatched driving engagement, the 296 Speciale sets a new benchmark for performance and driving emotion behind the wheel. We can’t wait to see this remarkable model on the roads of the region.”
Performance and design
The 296 Speciale is powered by a plug-in hybrid system combining a 120° V6 twin-turbo engine with an electric motor, producing a total of 880 hp—50 more than the 296 GTB. The V6 alone generates 700 hp, aided by components inspired by the 296 Challenge race car and Formula 1 technology.
Ferrari has reduced the model’s overall weight by 50 kg through the use of lightweight materials, including carbon fibre and titanium, improving the weight-to-power ratio to a class-leading 1.69 kg/hp. The car also delivers 435 kg of downforce at 250 km/h—20% more than the 296 GTB—thanks to several new aerodynamic features developed in motorsport.
Advanced systems and handling
The 296 Speciale features an updated eight-speed DCT gearbox with an extra torque boost during gear shifts, improving responsiveness and engagement. The braking system includes the latest ABS Evo technology for better performance on varying road surfaces.
Suspension modifications and a 5 mm lower ride height result in 13% less body roll, enhancing the car’s behaviour at high speeds. Downforce management has also been refined with a new actuator system, allowing quicker transitions between aerodynamic modes.
Ferrari’s engineers have tuned the Speciale for those seeking a more direct and intuitive driving experience, placing it at the top of the brand’s current range in terms of handling and driver involvement.
