Yango funds Umrah trips for UAE drivers

Seven UAE-based ride-hailing drivers travelled for Umrah with funding from Yango Ride in September, while two other drivers’ children received tuition support covering a full academic year.

Umrah trips and education support

The support was provided through Yango Ride’s Driver’s Dream Project, which helps partner drivers fulfil personal goals and supports their families.

Alongside the seven Umrah trips, the initiative covered a full academic year of school fees for two drivers’ children. Their families also received school supplies and gifts.

One participating driver said he had long wanted to visit Mecca and Medina after seeing photographs and videos sent by relatives working in Saudi Arabia. After completing his first Umrah, he hopes to return with his mother.

Nizam Ullah, a Yango Ride partner driver who took part in the journey, said: “This trip is my dream. Now it’s become a reality. So finally, this dream is complete. So, I thank Yango and my company and the people who arranged this trip for us.”

How drivers can submit their dreams

Drivers can share their aspirations through the “My Dreams” feature in the Yango driver application. Passengers can also leave tips through the app to help drivers work towards their goals.

Islam Abdul Karim, Regional Head of Yango Group Middle East, said: “Partner drivers help keep the UAE moving while working towards personal goals and providing for their families. Our community initiatives reflect a responsibility to support their wellbeing and recognise the families behind their work. We want drivers to feel valued as people whose lives and aspirations extend beyond the time they spend on the road. Listening to their needs helps us focus our support on priorities that are meaningful to them and their families.”

Other driver support initiatives

Earlier in 2026, Yango Ride introduced “Voices From Home”, an initiative that shared recorded messages from loved ones with participating drivers during their working day.

The team privately contacted family members to record the messages, giving drivers an opportunity to connect with relatives while away from home.
