Union Coop has partnered with the Dubai Autism Center to roll out a vocational training program aimed at preparing 34 students from the category of people of determination for the workforce.
The initiative is part of Union Coop’s wider corporate social responsibility goals and its commitment to inclusion.
Job skills development
The training focuses on equipping participants with practical skills through tailored modules that meet their individual needs. The program includes activities designed to build confidence and promote hands-on learning, following international best practices.
Students train in an environment adapted for their needs, supported by visual instructions and tools that help improve communication and engagement.
Inclusive workplace efforts
Union Coop is officially part of the ‘Autism-Friendly’ program, and this latest initiative builds on its efforts to make both training and workspaces more accessible. In addition to vocational support, internal awareness campaigns and custom signage have been introduced to help students navigate the work environment effectively.
“The launch of this program aligns with Union Coop’s inclusive vision to support equal opportunities,” said Ms. Shamma Saif, Chief Human Resource Officer at Union Coop. “This program is a true reflection of our belief in the potential of people of determination. Through this training, Union Coop aims to actively integrate them into the workplace and contribute to building a more sustainable society.”
Center praises partnership
The Dubai Autism Center also highlighted the impact of the collaboration. “This initiative is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to empower individuals with autism and enable them to become productive members of the community,” said Razan Qandil, Community Outreach Coordinator at the Dubai Autism Center.
She added, “Union Coop’s role in adopting the program and its clear dedication to creating a safe and inclusive training environment that respects the unique needs of students is highly commendable.”
