Ride-hailing platform Uber has launched a new initiative in the UAE aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to support local businesses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The campaign offers discounted rides to popular neighbourhood destinations known for homegrown concepts, cultural spaces and community hubs.

Ride discounts

As part of the initiative, users can get 20 percent off trips to selected locations between April 3 and April 7. The offer applies when using promo codes SUPPORTLOCALDXB in Dubai and SUPPORTLOCALAD in Abu Dhabi.

In Dubai, the discounted destinations include Alserkal Avenue, Wasl Square, Al Seef, Marsa Boulevard, The Square Nad Al Sheba Gardens, Springs Souk and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.

In Abu Dhabi, the offer covers trips to Marsa Al Bateen and Miza.

Supporting communities

Uber said the initiative is designed to improve access to neighbourhood areas that play a role in the local economy, including independent eateries, retail outlets and creative spaces.

“This initiative reflects Uber’s commitment to supporting local communities by connecting people not just to places, but to the businesses and experiences that shape the city,” said Tala Nsouli. “By making it easier to get there, we hope to encourage people to discover places and support homegrown businesses that are the heartbeat of our cities.”

Separately, the company said it recently matched all in-app tips of Dhs 10 or more across the UAE. The move was aimed at increasing driver earnings during a busy period, without adding extra costs for riders.
