UAE’s HM ALCHAHINE wins fifth leg of President’s Cup Series in Rome

HM ALCHAHINE, representing the UAE, secured a commanding victory in the fifth leg of the UAE President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses at Capannelle Racecourse in Rome on Sunday.

The race marked a significant event in the 32nd edition of the internationally respected series.

The UAE President’s Cup Series, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to expand its footprint across Europe’s leading racecourses. The series aims to support Arabian horse breeding and racing globally, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to the sport’s heritage and development.

Dominant performance

HM ALCHAHINE, a colt by Al Mourtajez out of Al Chyhanah (by Munjiz), is owned by Hilal Al Alawi and trained by Élisabeth Bernard of the Jean-François Bernard team. Jockey Cristian Demuro guided the horse to victory with a powerful late surge, claiming his eighth win in nine starts. The Group 2 race covered 2000 meters on turf and featured a competitive field of 16 horses from across Europe.

The total prize purse stood at €300,000. HM ALCHAHINE finished with a time of 2:09.8 minutes.

Leading finishers

Afjan, representing Al Shaqab Racing, finished second under Olivier D’Andigne, while Extra Time, ridden by Alexis Lemer and trained by David Morisson, secured third.

The event drew high-profile attendees, including H.E. Abdulla Ali Al Saboosi, UAE Ambassador to Italy; H.E. Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary General of the Higher Organizing Committee of the UAE President’s Cup Series; and Mr. Mattia Cadrobbi, President of the Italian Arabian Horse Association.
