UAE President’s Cup heads to Doncaster for UK round

Doncaster Racecourse in the UK will host the 13th round of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses on September 13, as part of the St. Leger Festival.

The race is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The race is the English-Arab Derby finale and a key highlight of the Cup’s 32nd edition. Held over 2,000 metres and classified as a Group 1 event, it carries a record prize purse of £400,000 — the highest ever for Arabian racing in Britain and Europe.

Eight horses will compete, with entries from France, the UK, and Qatar. Among the frontrunners are Libeau de Carrere and Moneer from Wathnan Racing, both trained in France. Qatar’s Al Shaqab Racing returns with Al Dhiib and Sheehan. Other contenders include Lino, Murakib, Madaoui, and Hibkinada de Mazieres.

The UAE President’s Cup series promotes Arabian horse racing and supports breeders globally, highlighting the UAE’s long-term commitment to preserving the Arabian horse’s heritage.

Aref Hamad Al Awani, member of the Higher Committee of the UAE President’s Cup Series, said: “The UK round represents the summit of the annual calendar for this prestigious series, reaffirming our valuable partnerships with iconic races and historic tracks. Participation in the legendary St. Leger Festival reflects the standing and prestige of the UAE President’s Cup, which has led the way for 32 years as one of the most distinguished and valuable classic races worldwide.”
