UAE links 34 universities to automatic degree recognition system

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has confirmed that 34 UAE-based higher education institutions have joined the first phase of its automatic qualification recognition system, allowing graduates to receive instant degree recognition.

Automatic degree recognition

Under the initiative, graduates from participating institutions no longer need to apply separately for qualification recognition. Their degrees are recognised automatically, supporting faster access to employment, postgraduate studies, and government services.

The ministry said more than 25,000 graduates have already used the service since its launch.

The initiative will be extended to Emirati students studying overseas under ministry-supervised scholarships. This will allow students abroad to access government services without delays related to qualification recognition.

The system also supports residency and visa requirements, removing additional administrative steps previously required.

Ministry statement

His Excellency Ahmad Yousuf Al Nasser, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Operations Sector at the ministry, said: “Linking 34 HEIs in the first phase of the automatic recognition initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the national recognition system through efficient, flexible services that support students and HEIs and align with societal and labour market needs. We continue to expand our HEI network, increasing inclusion under automatic recognition and advancing an integrated, digitally driven system for future service development.”

Digital verification tools

The automatic recognition service applies to qualifications issued by ministry-accredited institutions in the UAE. Graduates can verify their recognised qualifications through an approved QR code.

The ministry also provides digital services for recognising qualifications issued outside the UAE, including electronic verification and official reports for use by relevant authorities.
