The Representative Committee of the Hotel Sector Business Group at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has reviewed new incentive measures introduced by the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) to support hotels and tourism establishments during the summer season.
The measures aim to reduce operating costs, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the competitiveness of Sharjah’s hospitality sector while supporting sustainable tourism growth.
Summer incentives
The committee discussed the incentive package during an expanded coordination meeting at SCCI headquarters, chaired by Fadi Musharafieh, Head of the Hotels Sector Business Group. The meeting was attended by Dr. Fatima Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations Department at SCCI, Hadef Al Tunaiji, the committee’s permanent member and SEWA representative, Amjad Awad Al Karim, Head of Sectoral Business Groups Department, senior SEWA officials, and representatives of hotel establishments.
SEWA said the programme, launched in June and running until the end of August, offers financial and operational incentives designed to meet the hospitality sector’s seasonal needs. The initiative is expected to help businesses lower costs, improve resilience, and adopt more sustainable operating practices.
Sector support
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between government entities and the hospitality sector, while increasing direct engagement with hotel owners and senior executives.
Participants also discussed conducting regular site visits to hotel and tourism establishments to monitor the implementation of the incentive programme, identify operational requirements, gather industry feedback, and address implementation challenges. The findings will be used to prepare reports with recommendations to improve the programme.
Workforce focus
The committee also explored specialised training programmes for hospitality professionals to help maintain international service standards.
Participants discussed how the incentive package could support higher visitor numbers during the summer season alongside the ongoing Sharjah Summer Promotions campaign, which continues until mid-September.
SCCI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the hospitality sector by working with government entities to address operational challenges and strengthen Sharjah’s investment and tourism environment.
