The UAE has pledged $5 million (about Dhs18.4 million) to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund to support efforts aimed at expanding access to quality education for children and young people worldwide.

Education support

The funding will help the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund improve learning opportunities through initiatives that equip children with the knowledge and skills needed for the future. It will also support international efforts to address barriers that limit access to education.

The UAE said the contribution reflects its continued focus on investing in human development and supporting global partnerships that promote sustainable and inclusive opportunities for future generations.

About the fund

The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is a joint initiative by FIFA and Global Citizen. It raises resources to improve access to quality education, particularly for vulnerable and underserved children.

The fund supports education programmes through grants and partnerships with organisations working on the ground, while using football as a platform to encourage global action.

Global Citizen is an international advocacy organisation that works to end extreme poverty by bringing together governments, businesses, philanthropies, artists and citizens to support action on education, health, climate change, food security and gender equality. It is also known for organising global advocacy campaigns and events, including the Global Citizen Festival, to generate funding and policy commitments linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
