Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally approved the launch of Air Punjab, marking a major milestone as Pakistan’s first provincial airline moves closer to takeoff.

The announcement was made following a high-level meeting in Lahore, where detailed plans for the airline were presented.

Air Punjab to begin domestic flights

In the initial phase, Air Punjab will operate domestic routes across the country. The airline will become eligible for international operations after completing one year of successful domestic service.

The government aims to ensure the airline meets international standards before expanding its footprint abroad.

Modern aircraft to be leased

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed officials to immediately lease four Airbus aircraft to kickstart operations. She emphasized that Air Punjab should set a new benchmark for service quality, safety, and efficiency, with the goal of becoming the best airline in Pakistan.

Air Punjab is part of a broader vision to enhance infrastructure and connectivity across Punjab. The project also aligns with the province’s strategic goal of boosting regional mobility, tourism, and economic activity through modern transport solutions.
