Mall of the Emirates

Mall of the Emirates is set for a Dhs5 billion transformation as it marks its 20th anniversary this month. The expansion will add 20,000 sqm of retail space, more than 100 new stores, and introduce new cultural, wellness, and entertainment offerings.

The redevelopment includes a wellness precinct, a new indoor-outdoor district, and an immersive entertainment zone. One of the key highlights will be the launch of New Covent Garden, which will feature a 600-seat theatre.

The mall, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim, first opened in 2005 and is known for introducing several firsts to the region, including Ski Dubai. Over the years, it has become a major retail and leisure hub in Dubai.

Anniversary events

To celebrate the anniversary, Mall of the Emirates is hosting several events throughout September.

On September 13, THAT Concept Store will debut its Fall/Winter 2025 collection with a live runway show under the FASHION DOME, along with a DJ, juice bar, and curated grazing table from 4pm to 6pm.

On September 17–29, AllSaints will offer a free customization lab where visitors can personalize clothing, including the option to add the Mall of the Emirates anniversary logo.

On September 20, Bandaloop, an international vertical dance troupe, will perform aerial shows at 5pm and 6pm. That same day, shoppers can earn 20x SHARE points for 24 hours.

Mall of the Emirates’ upcoming changes are part of a long-term strategy to stay relevant in Dubai’s fast-evolving retail landscape.

The company said the new phase will “remain a global benchmark for lifestyle and leisure, inspiring and delighting visitors for decades to come.”
