Starting January 1, 2025, a new paid parking system will be introduced at three popular malls in Dubai, including the Mall of the Emirates (MoE). This announcement was made on Wednesday.
The emirate’s leading public parking operator, Parkin Company, has teamed up with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties to launch a ‘barrierless parking’ system at MoE, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif.
Despite the introduction of this system, the parking fees at these malls will remain the same for the duration of a five-year contract, according to Parkin.
Thanks to Parkin’s advanced technology, drivers will no longer need to stop and wait at barriers when entering or leaving mall parking areas. Instead, sophisticated cameras will automatically capture license plates, keeping track of each vehicle’s movement and how long it stays.
Upon entering the parking facility, drivers will receive a text message or a notification through the Parkin app informing them of the parking charges. They will then be able to pay these fees via the app or through Parkin’s website.
This streamlined entry and exit process is anticipated to improve access for over 20 million vehicles annually across the three locations, which collectively offer 21,000 parking spaces.
“Our smart systems will reduce congestion and enable smooth traffic flow, enhancing the overall customer experience at some of the busiest and well-known retail locations in Dubai,” stated Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin.
