Youth Muay Thai world championship to kick off in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi will host the 2025 Youth Muay Thai World Championship from September 12 to 19 at Space 42 Arena, Al Raha Beach.

Over 1,200 young athletes from 100 countries will compete in different age groups at the first-ever Middle East edition of this event.

Event schedule and access

The opening ceremony is set for September 12 at 5:00 PM, welcoming all participating teams. Fans and Muay Thai enthusiasts can attend free of charge.

Preliminary bouts start on September 13 and run daily from noon to 8:00 PM. Finals for the 8–15 years category will take place on September 18, with the 16–17 years finals on September 19, which will conclude the championship.

This event marks a significant moment for combat sports in the region, providing a global platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.

International support and local leadership

Stephan Fox, Secretary General of the International Federation of Muay Thai, highlighted the record level of participation this year and noted that Abu Dhabi has all the elements needed to successfully host an event of this scale.

Tareq Mohammed Al Mehairi, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, said the strong international turnout shows confidence in the UAE’s ability to organize major sporting events.

He added, “We are committed to delivering an extraordinary edition of the championship, upholding the highest professional standards, enhancing Muay Thai’s global footprint, and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s status as a premier global sports hub.”
