Maldives showcases its luxury tourism potential at Dubai exhibition

Visit Maldives successfully wrapped up its exclusive press conference, the “Maldives Media Meet,” held during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

In her opening remarks, CEO & MD Fathmath Thaufeeq emphasized the flourishing state of the Maldives’ tourism industry, attributing its success to the concerted efforts of the travel and tourism sector, backed by government support. She underscored the commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism, ensuring the preservation of the islands for future generations.

Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, outlined the evolving vision for Maldives tourism, extending beyond luxury to prioritize economic growth alongside environmental responsibility, with sustainability as a core principle.

Ms. Ayesha Nurain Janah, Chairperson of the MMPRC Board, highlighted the ongoing efforts to redefine luxury tourism in the Maldives, emphasizing the fusion of unique experiences with sustainability.

Mr. Ahmed Shaheen, Director of Sales and Marketing of Crown and Champa Resorts, shared insights into the diversification of the tourism industry, particularly through MATI (Maldives Association of Tourism Industry).

President of MATATO, Mr. Abdulla Giyas Riyaz, emphasized the significance of upholding the administration’s motto, “Dhiveheenge Raajje,” underscoring the unique identity of the Maldives and its promising future in tourism.

Mr. Abdul Sameeu Imad, Vice President of the National Hotels & Guesthouse Association of Maldives, stressed the importance of community tourism in fostering cultural exchange and ensuring local communities benefit directly from tourism.

The Maldives Media Meet was spearheaded by Ms. Fathmath Thaufeeq, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of MMPRC, alongside notable figures including Mr. Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Tourism; Mr. Mohamed Khaleel, Advisor to the President on Tourism Development; Ms. Ayesha Nurain Janah, Chairperson of the MMPRC Board; Mr. Ahmed Shaheen, Director of Sales and Marketing of Crown and Champa Resorts; Mr. Abdulla Giyas Riyaz, President of Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO); and Mr. Abdul Sameeu Imad, Vice President of the National Hotels & Guesthouse Association of Maldives.

The press conference concluded with a Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage with the speakers and delve deeper into the topics discussed.

The Maldives Media Meet, a significant event within the ATM travel trade fair, facilitated valuable connections with influential media figures from the Middle East. It served as a platform to share updates on the Maldives’ tourism landscape, including new products and services, reaffirming its status as a premier tourist destination in the region.
