Sharjah’s Mleiha archaeological center has introduced a new glamping experience, catering to both adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers seeking an ideal retreat.
“Mleiha Glamping” provides visitors with a chance to indulge in traditional hospitality and distinct adventure experiences, while spending a magnificent night in the scenic Mleiha desert.
This unique experience comes packed with eco-friendly characteristics and contemporary conveniences.
Luxurious tents
Luxurious “Yurt tents, thoughtfully designed and visually appealing, are available in Standard, Family, and Deluxe Family categories, providing a blend of outdoor camping excitement and hotel-like comfort.
The Standard tent is suitable for two adults, while the Family and Deluxe Family tents can accommodate two children. Guests may choose to reserve all five tents or add extra tents to serve as a gathering venue, depending on their preferences.

“We are pleased to offer visitors a new glamping experience. We aim to provide guests with an unforgettable experience, while also educating them about the rich history and culture of the region. Our campsites are equipped with modern amenities, cozy tents, comfortable beds, and a range of activities to make the stay as enjoyable as possible,” said Mahmoud Rashid Deemas, Director of Operations and Tourism Development at Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
Mleiha desert
“We have integrated the tents into the natural environment of the Mleiha desert in a way that complements the surrounding ecology and does not negatively impact the local flora and fauna,” he added.
Beginning at 5.00pm and continuing till 10:00am the next day, the glamping experiences bring diverse experiences of the Mleiha Archaeological Centre together.
Starting with a Unimog shuttle service, taking the guests to the campsite where they can unwind in the lounge and enjoy refreshing hot or cold beverages, the experience continues to a memorable dining experience under the stars with the option of choosing from a specially curated menu, live on-site dinner, or a barbeque of their own.
A special 20-minute stargazing session with astronomy experts can also be explored during the night.
The morning begins with a short 4×4 ride through the Mleiha sands catching the sun rising over the horizon, followed by a traditional picnic breakfast basket, where guests will have all the provisions for a delicious breakfast. Guests can also learn about the history of the camping grounds with complimentary access to the Mleiha Museum, which is home to Historical and archaeological findings, dating back to the Paleolithic Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, and the pre-Islamic-period.
