In a unique gesture highlighting the UAE’s Year of Community, Dubai Airports facilitated a symbolic airport entry stamp for a long-time resident who first arrived in the country 60 years ago.
Marking six decades
Haji N Jamaluddin first reached Dubai from Mumbai on February 26, 1965, arriving by ship at a time when the city had no formal port infrastructure. To commemorate this milestone, his son approached Dubai Airports with a request for an official entry stamp — a tribute to his father’s long-standing connection with the emirate.
With the support of airport officials, the idea was brought to life.
“This new entry stamp isn’t just a mark in a passport – it’s a tribute to everything Dubai has given us,” said Jamaluddin. “My son wanted to honour the years I’ve spent here and with the help of the Dubai Airports team, he made that possible.”
Education and community
Jamaluddin is the founder and chairman of Crescent English High School, which he established in 1984. Known for offering affordable education, the school currently has more than 1,700 students enrolled.
“Money is not everything. Education is the best weapon for enlightenment,” he said, reflecting on his vision for inclusive education.
Visit to Dubai International
As part of the occasion, students from Crescent English High School were invited to Dubai International (DXB) for an educational tour. The visit offered students insights into airport operations and highlighted DXB’s role in connecting communities globally.
Jamaluddin also acknowledged the influence of UAE leadership on his journey, especially the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
“He was always among the people and now His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is continuing that legacy. It’s what makes Dubai what it is today,” he added.
