In an Instagram announcement, Junaid Safdar openly acknowledged the end of his marital relationship with Ayesha and said that the news of his divorce is true.
He candidly wrote, “News about my divorce is true.”
Emphasizing the deeply personal nature of the situation, he further stated, “This is an entirely private matter, and I request the media to respect our privacy.”
Junaid also expressed his hopes that, with this decision, they would both find their respective paths, saying, “I hope with this decision we find our people, Insha Allah. I will speak no further on this matter. I wish her [Ayesha] well.”
Their union, which began with an extravagant celebration in August 2021, was attended by prominent figures, including the former premier.
The Nikkah ceremony was followed by lavish wedding festivities held in Islamabad in December of the same year.
Immediately following the public announcement, Junaid acted swiftly, removing all the shared photographs of himself with his former wife from his Instagram account. This move signified a personal desire for privacy and marked a symbolic step towards moving on.
Throughout their time together, Junaid and Ayesha consciously maintained a low profile, choosing to stay away from the intrusive glare of the media spotlight.
Their remarkable wedding ceremony, held on August 22, was a grand affair spanning two distinct locations: London and Pakistan. This unique decision was strongly influenced by the presence of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

Junaid and Ayesha’s nikkah ceremony took place at the luxurious Lanesborough hotel, situated on the Hyde Park Corner in Knightsbridge, London. This prestigious event was graced by the presence of Junaid Safdar’s distinguished grandfather, along with his uncle Hussain Nawaz, party member and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, and other top dignitaries.
Notably, the groom’s parents, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (Rtd) Muhammad Safdar, were regrettably unable to attend the wedding ceremony due to their names being listed on the Exit Control List.
