The UAE’s tourism sector stands to benefit from continued growth across the Gulf, with GCC tourism revenue reaching $131.9 billion in 2025, up 9.7% from the previous year, according to the GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-STAT).
Tourist arrivals across the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries rose 4.9% to 75.7 million in 2025, while travel between GCC states increased 3.6% to 20.1 million visitors.
The figures highlight tourism’s growing role in the region’s economic diversification, supporting industries including aviation, hotels, retail, transport and entertainment.
GCC tourism growth supports UAE travel and hospitality
The number of hotel establishments across the GCC increased 4.8% to 12,400 in 2025, reflecting the expansion of the region’s accommodation sector.
For the UAE, continued regional tourism growth creates opportunities for hotels, airlines, attractions and other businesses serving international and Gulf-based travellers. Rising intra-GCC travel also highlights the importance of attracting visitors from neighbouring countries.
Digital services to shape the Gulf tourism experience
GCC-STAT’s bulletin, Gulf Tourism in the Era of Smart Transformation, also highlighted digital technology as a priority for the region’s tourism industry.
Three GCC countries ranked among the global top 20 in the 2025 Emerging Technology Adoption Index, while three placed among the top 25 in the Online Government Services Index.
The report highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis and connected digital platforms to improve visitor services and link hotel bookings with transport options across the region.
For the UAE, stronger digital integration could help make travel planning and cross-border Gulf trips more convenient.
The latest figures underline tourism’s growing contribution to Gulf economies, with further opportunities to strengthen regional connectivity, attract visitors and support non-oil economic growth.
