flydubai carries more than 100,000 passengers between Dubai and Salzburg

flydubai’s expansion plans stunted by extensive delays in Boeing’s aircraft delivery schedules

flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, celebrates its third anniversary of operations to Salzburg, Austria.

flydubai was the first national carrier in the UAE to operate direct flights between Dubai and Salzburg with its inaugural flight landing at Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Airport (SZG) on July 15, 2021.

Dubai to Salzburg flights

The carrier currently operates a four-times weekly service to Salzburg. Located near the German-Austrian borders, Salzburg Airport is also the second-largest airport in Austria which serves as a gateway to the famous Ski Amadé region.

Over the past few years, flydubai has carried more than 100,000 passengers between Dubai and Salzburg, showcasing strong demand for travel.

Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, said: “at flydubai we are committed to exploring opportunities for growth, removing barriers to travel and creating free flows in trade and tourism and enhancing connectivity between different cultures; all while providing convenient travel options to passengers across our ever-expanding network.”

“We continue to grow our network in Europe which today covers more than 24 destinations. We are witnessing great demand from passengers travelling to these destinations. We will begin our flights to Basel and three Baltic destinations including Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius over the next few months, and we expect these destinations to be popular for our passengers from the UAE and the region,” added Obaidalla.

flydubai offers passengers a comfortable travel experience and convenient options for travel across its network through Dubai’s aviation hub. Destinations such as Colombo, Kathmandu, the Maldives and Zanzibar are particularly popular connections from Salzburg.

Passengers travelling in Business Class can enjoy space and privacy in a comfortable and spacious seat while enjoying hours of immersive inflight entertainment. Economy Class passengers can also enjoy seats designed to optimise space and comfort during their flight.

Exploring Salzburg

Salzburg not only boasts breathtaking natural scenery near the Alps and ancient architectural landmarks, it is also famous for its musical history as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This rich musical history is reflected in the prominent landmarks throughout the city including the Mozart family museum, various festivals showcasing his music and several filming locations of one of the most famous musical movies, “The Sound of Music.”

The city is also famous for its historical landmarks including the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, Salzburg is also home to the famous Hohensalzburg Fortress boasting eye-catching gardens and parks situated on a high mountain summit that overlooks the Baroque towers of the city.
