Lithuania aviation growth

Juras Taminskas, Minister of Transport and Communications, said: “I am pleased that over the past two years, a fourth new airline is beginning operations in Lithuania. This shows that Vilnius Airport remains a safe, attractive, and reliable partner for international carriers.

“The arrival of this company marks a new stage in our country’s aviation. A direct connection with one of the most important hubs in the Middle East not only increases Lithuania’s accessibility and expands connecting-flight opportunities, but also opens entirely new travel destinations for all of us, as well as for business and the tourism sector. In the first year of operations alone, around 40,000 passengers are expected to be carried.”

Tourism and trade links

The Dubai–Vilnius route is expected to support tourism and trade ties, while giving Lithuanian travellers easier access to Dubai and onward destinations including the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Thailand.

Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said: “The launch of our flights to Vilnius underscores flydubai’s commitment to expanding direct connectivity to underserved markets.

“These new flights will play an important role in stimulating tourism and trade flows between the UAE and Lithuania, offering passengers more convenient travel options and opening new opportunities for businesses and visitors in both countries. We look forward to seeing the route gain popularity with our customers and we thank the airport and local authorities for their support and warm welcome to the market.”

Simonas Bartkus, Chief Executive Officer at Lithuanian Airports, said: “The launch of direct flydubai flights at Vilnius Airport is a significant step in expanding our aviation map and strengthening Lithuania’s air connectivity. This new link with one of the most important hubs in the Middle East opens up even more opportunities for both travellers and businesses, while also providing convenient access to more than 200 destinations within the combined flydubai and Emirates network.

“We particularly appreciate flydubai‘s readiness to invest in the development of inbound tourism in the Baltic States, which is crucial for ensuring the success of flights throughout the year. We are confident that the Dubai route will become an attractive and consistent choice for our passengers.”
